She is born as eldest among four children to theater artist Rajan and Vasanthy at Muzhappilangattu, Kannur, Kerala. She has two brothers and a sister. Her father owned a drama troupe ''Raja Theaters''. She started her career as a theater artist. She and her mother used to act in their drama troupe. later she started acting in other drama troupes like ''Alavil Deshiya Kalasamithi'' at the age of 13.
